START Continuing Education Loan

Now that you've chosen your continuing education program, it's time to think about paying for it.

The START Continuing Education Loan is designed to help students attending school on a part-time basis. Repayment is automatically deferred for up to two years, depending on enrollment status and program type.

Credit Guidelines

You must meet the credit guidelines below
(a co-signer may be required):
satisfactory credit history, residence and employment history of at least two years

proof of current income

if self-employed, verifiable business income for at least two years
U.S. citizen or permanent resident and have resided in the U.S. for the previous two years

international students must apply with a qualified credit-worthy U.S. citizen or permanent resident co-signer

Deferment Terms

for certificate/degree granting programs:
repayment is deferred until the earlier of

  • two years after the first disbursement,
  • six months after graduation, or
  • six months after enrollment has ended
 

non-certificate/non- degree granting programs: repayment may be deferred until the earlier of

  • six months after end of the academic period for which the loan is taken, or
  • six months after enrollment has ended
